Oh, I see.

No, it shouldn't be down at all. If you can't access it, it's probably a problem with x10hosting, rather than AltArc.

Also, about the password "tripling in length": Before logging in, your password is hashed using Javascript for the sake of security.

I'll look into any further issues.

I've found the issue with submitting maps. GD, the function used to generate images such as map thumbnails, is disabled at the moment, but will eventually be able on my webhost, assuming that this guy is right. Until then, map submissions will not be available. :(

Duuuude, that is slick! Both visually AND functionally! Holy wow. Too bad we can't see what it's like when there's viewable maps, but still, you can tell there's a lot of functionality here. It's simple yet powerful, as you say. Fantastic job so far! :) :) :)

P.S. You should probably do away with the line, "If you seriously need more help than that, you're probably mentally disabled, in which case we apologize for your condition."

Haha, I forgot to take that out. I get very bored when documenting AltArc.

EDIT: Map submission is now working, but thumbnails are still out-of-order and it doesn't appear to do anything once you finish, even though your map was added. I think the reason people were getting a blank page is because the webhost tries to hide every trace of PHP's presence, and it was hiding a very useful error message from sight.

EDIT2: I have begun to work on map pack support. I still need to create an interface that allows users to create and join map packs, along with some other minor features like descriptions for the packs.

Lots and lots of stuff to talk about!

Bugs:
(1) I'm logged in and everything is normal. I click "edit map" on my map. AltArc says "This is not your map."

(2) It says here that I've received 3 votes, while this screen says I've only received 1.

(3) The voting was strange on your first map. The average shown on the map page was off, and the average shown on the map listing page was not only different from that one but off by even more. From your comment on my map I gather that you're fixing all this, I just wanted to make sure you got the full extent of the problem.

(4) When I'm not logged in, your map (testing 1 2) has a "Favorite" flag. (Btw, that flag looks awesome!)

Questions:
(1) Map listings show the average rating of a map but not how many rates it has received. Why? That's useful information.

(2) Why can't I favorite my own map? It's not like that's something that can be abused...

(3) How does search work? Does it search tags AND title AND description text? Wait a sec, when I search "avarin", your map comes up (which I have commented on). It searches comments and commenter names as well!?

(4) Favorites and saved maps seem very tacked on. I can fave/save and unfave/unsave, but that's it. I can't even view my own favorites/saved maps, let alone anyone else's. And wasn't there talk of a fav counter? Maybe I am mistaken on that one.

Praise:
The meta submission options are frackin' ingenious! Great idea!

EDIT: One more thing! Does using lowercase "agd" work for submitting an AGD? Because I just tried it and it messed up, but maybe I made a typo (because the "[" is gone - though I'm pretty sure I typed it).

Nice favorites flag. I would like to be able to edit my own map though ;_;

I love how you've implemented the voting stars, though. They're very pretty. Although they were my design. ;)

Looking forward to the finished product!

I also just accidentally pressed enter twice when commenting on your map, so it commented twice. Can you fix that to make only one comment submission possible every ten seconds or so?

One final thing, and this is a style preference that by no means do you need to add, but it would look a whole lot cooler with
Code: Select all
.map-data input {
background-color: #262626;
border: 1px solid #888888;
color: #BBBBBB;
font-size: 9px;
padding: 3px;
width: 90%;
}

And where are the tags on the map pages themselves?! :(

I just have two minor pieces of advice. Firstly, the AltArc banner seems far too large compared with the rest of the site, especially when viewing maps. Secondly, I find it irritating that the half stars and empty stars go on the left side of the rating, when reading from left to right is much more common.

@Avarin: Thanks for all the feedback!
Bug 1: This is probably some old code that I forgot to change after adding support for multiple authors.
Bug 2: That's due to the fact that I reset the votes on the map pages, but neglected to change the total user votes. Once the final product of AltArc is released, everything will be reset anyway, save for the registrations themselves.
Bug 3: It seems to be fixed now.
Question 1: I wasn't sure where to put the number of votes, but I think I can change that.
Question 2: I decided to disable it, and it was easier to do it that way. It's basically just me being lazy. I'll re-enable it, though.
Question 3: I don't see the 'avarin' search bug anymore, so it must've resolved itself. O_o Weird. I think it just searches title, author(s), type(s), and tags.
Question 4: On the map browsing/searching page, there's an option at the bottom to see your faved and saved maps. It's been suggested more than once to remove that from the advanced options, so it's certainly going to be implemented. Also, there are no actual hard numbers that can tell you how many faves a map has received, although AltArc is capable of sorting maps by number of favorites.
Praise: Thanks; I was worried people would be confused with maps and meta-threads being on the same interface. :)
Your edit question: It should work in any case, and yes, omitting the opening bracket will throw it off. I apologize if that was out of your control; I'll check the function for any bugs.

@incluye: I'll fix the map editing thing as previously mentioned. Don't worry. :) I'll also implement a comment time limit, and probably a submission limit as well. Thanks for bringing that up. As for the map tags... I forgot. Sorry. I'll make sure to put them there when I get the chance.

@Avarin: Refresh the page. Not sure what else to tell you, seeing as you're the only one having problems with it. You might need to do Ctrl+F5, just to be sure your cache isn't mucking things up.

@Erik-Player: Check for any typos in the address first; if you're sure you entered it correctly, PM me your e-mail and I'll see if it's incompatible with the regex function I'm using to validate addresses.

@Blackson: Is the layout being similar to NUMA that big of a deal? They both deal with the same input (title, description, data, thumbnail, etc.), so there isn't exactly as wide a range of possibilities as you'd expect. Furthermore, remember that I'm still focused on functionality, and I have a lot to be implemented. If you really feel that it looks too much like NUMA, go right ahead and make your own original theme for AltArc. I'd be happy to have a variety of choices for everyone. :)

(Edit: added boldness to names, so it doesn't look like a giant wall of text.)

Okay, x10hosting is not working out. 50% uptime is unacceptable, even for a free host. I'm going to search around for another one...

.htaccess support, GD support (which x10hosting also didn't have), good uptime, FTP access, and no price tag. I've found another host, and so far all seems good.

...Unfortunately, I forgot to copy the recent registrations and maps from the old host to the new, so lots of people will need to re-register. :(

Haha. I'm supposing you'll fix the CSS *after* you actually find a webhost.

I actually did fix the CSS on my local copy of AltArc, but I did it pretty much immediately after transferring the site, so it'll be implemented next time.

Also, it's of no use at the moment, but by going to altarc.sector-five.net/pack you can see where I am with mappack support. I've done some work even since then, though. Is everybody content with the mappack prefix being "^", as in "altarc.sector-five.net/^packName"?

EDIT: Thumbnails are now working! Hooray! Turns out I had been using a full path on my computer that definitely wasn't compatible with the server (trying to save images as '/xampp/htdocs/.....' was a stupid mistake on my part).

Oddly enough, when trying to re-register, it gives me the error "invalid e-mail address" (#102). Is that because my email is still in the database somehow?

There was another old function, which I thought I had already changed, but apparently didn't. It should be fixed now. Sorry for the trouble.

Code: Select all
input
{
border: 1px solid #aaa;
background-color: #eee;
padding: 3px;
color: #777;
}

Code: Select all
.map-tags
{
border-top: 1px solid #c3c3c3;
bottom: 4px;
display: block;
font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';
padding-top: 4px;
position: absolute;
font-size: 11pt;
}

And to make sure .map-desc doesn't overlap, you need to give it a bottom margin of 24px.

Something must be done about the login page. I don't know what, but all that empty space is horrid. D: At least give the table some more spacing.
